Ashveil Chronicle
★★★★★ 4.5
Ashveil Chronicle is a turn-based RPG with a hand-drawn world and a surprisingly thoughtful script. You build a small party, learn each character's skill rhythm, and work out which enemies to hit first. Fights reward planning more than reflexes.
What kept us going was the writing. Side characters have actual personalities, and a few dialogue choices change later scenes in ways you don't expect. It's not a huge branching tree, but it's enough to make decisions feel like they matter.
The downside is pacing: early chapters are slow, and you'll grind a bit before the combat opens up. Push past that, though, and the mid-game is where it shines. Battery drain is on the higher side during long sessions.
