The mobile racers worth your storage

The mobile racers worth your storage

April 19, 2026 · Lukas Brandt

Racing on a phone is hard to get right. No wheel, no pedals, just your thumbs and a slab of glass. The games that work are the ones that lean into that instead of pretending you have a steering wheel.

The best touch racers keep steering simple and put the depth in the drift or boost system. That's why something like Ember Road Rivals clicks: you only really manage two things, but managing them well feels great.

Watch out for games that bury the racing under endless menus and card upgrades. If I have to spend three minutes tapping through screens to get to a thirty-second race, I'm out. Good mobile racers respect the gap between sessions.

My practical tip: play a few races before judging the handling. Almost every racer feels floaty at first, and most let you tweak sensitivity. Give it ten minutes before you decide.
